Growvite Sheep Trial Produces a 22% increase in live lamb numbers
A trial onGrowvite Sheep was carried out by the institute for Rural Studies, University of Wales under the guidance of Dr Selwyn Williams. The trial investigated the effect of dosing ewes with Growvite Sheep pre-tupping and pre-lambing.
The trial was conducted on a mixed flock of 209 Welsh mules and Welsh halfbreds evenly divided into two groups based on: breed, condition, score and lambing status (ewes or shearing ewes). The two groups were separated initially to prevent pasture contamination with faeces from the treated group and then, after one week, run as a single flock for the remainder of the trial.
The results of the trial demonstrated a significant increase in the number of lambs born from the treated group over the control group.
