Liver fluke is one of the biggest dangers to the sheep industry causing death and lost production, which in turn costs farmers millions of euro per year. The loss of profit liver fluke can cause for the farmers is caused by many different factors, some of which are:
  • Acute or untreated chronic infections which can lead to death
  • Reduced lambing percentages and ewe fertility
  • Reduced weight in new born lambs
  • Infected lambs take longer to reach finish weight
  • Reduced and lower quality wool yields
  • Heightened susceptibility to clostridial infections
Flukiver 5% oral drench contains clostantel, a flukicide in a class of it's own with an effective two stage system in the fight against fluke.
Stage 1: Kills adult, immature fluke as well as fluke that is resistant to triclabendazole.
Stage 2: The continuous action of Flukiver 5% oral drench results in:
  • Smaller fluke
  • Production of eggs is drastically delayed
  • The number of eggs laid is reduced
  • The number of eggs hatching is reduced
  • The re-contamination of pasture is reduced
Rotate and protect:
Since there is a limited amount of products available for the treatment of fluke and there is an ever growing resistance to triclabendazole (the active ingredient used in other popular flukicides), it is important to protect ALL flukicide products. It is a necessity that all sheep farmers establish a competent control of fluke for the future.
Triclabendazole resistance is a reality and a strategic rotation program with Flukiver and/or Sperverm can reduce the danger of fluke developing a resistance on your farm.
